Artist Statement

          working in glass and metal, I create a variety of works, from intricate welded sculpture to delicate glass beads. I'm inspired by nature, peoples' stories and struggles, and the process of making, noting particularly the intersections of human life and social context that lead us to confront borders. 

       My sculptural projects have been inspired by questions around home, identity, nation and belonging. I revel in both the natural world and mechanized beauty, and make nests and cocoons of organic warmth and rigid cold.   These forms question boundaries between safety/danger, fragility/strength and comfort/fear.  What is safety and who is home?

         My smaller works in glass are a plea to value aesthetics and the handmade. I hope to enrich peoples’ lives with beautiful and functional objects that delight the eye and remind people of the creative spirit.
